Pick up at Fes Sais airport at the time estimated by our guide and transfer to the Riad, well located and situated in the heart of the Medina, the historic part of Fes. Depending on the arrival time, there is the possibility of visiting part of Fes.
After a hearty breakfast at the Riad, we will start our guided tour of the new part of the city, where we will approach the Royal Palace and the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). Then we will go to a viewpoint where we can see the entire Medina from the Torre del Sud and the few mosques. Then we had to walk through the Medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its labyrinthine alleys are structured by guilds of potters, dyers, etc., and the bustle of the people will transport you back in time centuries ago. We will discover that it is a medieval city and that time has stopped on the clock "la Magana Bounania" 1200 years after it was built. A miracle!
We head south to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Ifrane, nicknamed "little Moroccan Switzerland" because of its great similarity to this land. One of the animals that used to live here was the Atlas lion, which is why it has become the symbol of the city and a stone statue has been dedicated to it in the center. We will take the opportunity to stop and take some photos. We will cross the famous cedar forests and will be able to admire the Great Gouraud Cedar, the largest thousand-year-old cedar in the region, and also feed the hundreds of Gibraltar cats that inhabit the area. Lunch in Midélt. From here, the land becomes drier and full of spectacular geological formations and deep green valleys, such as the Ziz Valley. We will see the typical mud architecture, palm trees and some distant kasbahs … we are at the gates of the desert. An hour after Erfoud, we reach the impressive dunes of Merzouga. After the hospitality tea, we leave our bags in the rooms and go up to the first dunes next to the hotel and take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Dinner and overnight in a hotel located a few meters from the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
We are already in the desert and today will be a day of total desert. After a hearty and plentiful breakfast, we will go around the Erg Chebbi, a stretch of sandy desert where the Great Dune of Morocco, over 250 meters high, is located. We will join a track that follows part of the route that the old Paris-Dakar route followed, with the mountains that border Algeria in the background. We will stop at the Tissardmin oasis where we will find fossils that can still be found in this region today and we will continue towards a nomadic settlement where we will learn some of the secrets of their life and customs. Later, we will stop at a viewpoint from which we can see the Erg Chebbi in its entirety. We will reach the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we will relax with a tea while enjoying a small concert of spiritual music from Gnawa. We return to the hotel to set off in a camel caravan into the heart of the dunes to experience an unforgettable sunset. We arrive with the camels to the camp where we spend the night in a tent, a white tent like the ones used by desert nomads. Dinner and overnight in a tent in the heart of the desert under a spectacular starry sky.
After breakfast we can enjoy one of the best views of the Dades Valley. We do this from one of the most strategic places that the mountains offer us. From there we can observe the number of kasbahs and the picturesque beauty of each one. Then we will take a road dotted with various interesting kasbahs until we reach the Kasbah of Aït Youl where we will make a detour and take paths into the deepest part of the Central High Atlas and discover spectacular landscapes. We will visit a nomadic family that still lives in caves in the Vallé de Boutagrar where time seems to have stopped. We will see mountains, gorges and valleys as well as the caves where nomads still live in the mountains. Arrival in the Vallé de las Rosas to pick up Kelaa M ’Gouna. Lunch in the village and in the afternoon we will drive through the palm grove of Skoura to later arrive in Ouarzazate, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
The morning is dedicated to visiting Ouarzazate: Kasbah de Taourirt, film studios. Then we head to the fortified town of Ait Ben Haddou where we visit the famous Kasbah (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site). This spectacular setting has been the setting for such famous films as Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara with Penelope Cruz and The Jewel of the Nile. Lunch in the village and in the afternoon we head to Marrakech, crossing the Tizi Ntichka mountain pass and stopping to take photos. Here we leave the lunar landscape behind us which gives way to a predominantly green, ochre… etc. landscape. Arrival in Marrakech around 6pm. Free afternoon/evening to discover the famous Djemaa el Fna square.
Free day to practice the art of haggling in the souks or to discover the most hidden places of the Medina at your leisure.
We head to Fez, crossing the numerous valleys that make up the Middle Atlas; Beni Melal and Khénifra, with technical stops to rest a little and have lunch in a town along the way. In the middle of summer and when the days are very long, there is the possibility of deviating to the Ouzoud waterfalls, but in winter, as the days are short, this is impossible because it takes time. Arrival in Fez. Accommodation in riad/hotel.
Breakfast and free morning until the agreed time, transfer to the airport where we will accompany you to check in your luggage and show you the boarding gate, we agree that it is recommended to be at the airport 2 hours in advance, here our services and end of the 10 days from Fes to Marrakech.
